You may choose to take Pilates classes either individually, or within a group at a suitable level. The regularity that you choose to do class is up to you, but as with any exercise form the more regularly you commit, the more obvious and sooner the benefits will show. No special clothing is required, just something that you are comfortable in and can move in, and classes are done either in bare feet or grip socks. All mats and small equipment are provided. Below is a description of some class options/levels.
Individual/Private sessions:
This is the ideal way to begin Pilates as it allows each session to be tailored to the individual, enabling faster understanding, impact and results. Individual sessions can also be used by beginners towards working within a group class, or on your own at home safe in the knowledge that an understanding of the body has been gained so that you can work safely and effectively. Private sessions are available at your home.
Group classes: Beginners->Improvers->Intermediate->Advanced
Beginners group classes:
Explore the fundamentals of Pilates. Learn breath patterns, alignment, how to engage your core muscles and learn correct muscular recruitment patterns developing your body awareness.
Improvers -> intermediate -> advanced group classes:
Having mastered the fundamentals, more complex patterning and exercises are added challenging your core stability and co-ordination and building towards more flow. It is important that you have gained an understanding of correct muscle recruitment before challenging yourself further to ensure that you will get the full benefits, therefore previous Pilates or other similar movement experience is desired.
